West Ham goalkeeper Fabiański stretchered off after frightening injury
Today’s traditional Boxing Day fixtures in England feature eight Premier League matches, but one of them saw a disturbing incident unfold.
Details: During the game against Southampton, West Ham goalkeeper Łukasz Fabiański suffered a serious injury.
The veteran Polish keeper collided head-first into the shoulder of Southampton defender Nathan Wood during a corner kick. Fabiański collapsed to the ground unconscious and had to be stretchered off the pitch.
The exact nature of the injury and Fabiański’s current condition have not yet been disclosed.
He was replaced by backup goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.
Notably, Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale ran the length of the pitch to offer support to his injured counterpart.
Reminder: Earlier, it was reported that West Ham midfielder Lucas Paquetá is looking to leave the club.
