West Ham are not abandoning their attempts to sign Manchester United transfer target
London West Ham are trying to sign Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, citing Lequipe.
The stumbling block is the transfer fee for the 24-year-old center-back, which is expected to be very high. The Hammers' initial offer of €35 million was rejected.
It is noted that West Ham may make a new offer, especially as Manchester United has exited the race for the player.
Recall that the transfer of Nice's leading defender to Manchester United fell through due to UEFA regulations.
Negotiations with all interested parties had been ongoing for several months, but Nice and Manchester United share a common owner and will compete in the same European tournament next season. This violates UEFA rules, hence the transfer was not given the "green light."
Jean-Clair Todibo moved to Nice from Barcelona in 2021. In the recently concluded season, the 24-year-old defender played 33 matches across all competitions, contributing three assists.
