Werder Bremen Coach Horst Steffen Denies Criticism of Victor Boniface’s Training
Werder Bremen manager Horst Steffen has dismissed recent media reports suggesting he questioned Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface’s training performance at the club.
Speaking to Weser Kurier ahead of Bremen’s Bundesliga clash against 1. FC Köln this weekend, Steffen clarified that he has never publicly commented on a player’s training routine.
When asked about the circulating report, Steffen responded with a smile:
"Who comes up with the idea of making such a statement? There are quite a few ways not to observe training. Therefore, I don't know where this is coming from. I don't want to say much more about it."
Although he didn’t explicitly deny the initial claims, Steffen emphasized his approach to discussing players’ performances.
"It's not my intention to comment on individual training performances. Sometimes I mention it if someone has earned something special. But generally, I don't want to evaluate and publicly comment on every training session."
Victor Boniface, who is on loan from Bayer Leverkusen, is still searching for his first goal in a Werder Bremen jersey after nine appearances. After starting two matches at the end of October, the striker has been relegated to the bench for the last two games.
