Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has shared an update on the fitness of central defender Matthijs de Ligt.
Details: The boss explained that the player is still in the early stages of recovery and is following an individual program that does not yet involve any on-pitch work.
According to Carrick, de Ligt is now fully focused on rehabilitation procedures under the close supervision of the medical staff.
"He didn't travel with us because he's not ready for training on the pitch yet," the coach noted. This means the defender's return to full team training is on hold for now.
The club is taking no risks with his recovery, determined to avoid any recurrence of the injury that sidelined him at such a crucial time.
It's worth noting that de Ligt last featured for the Red Devils back in late November 2025. Since then, the defender has made just 14 appearances, scoring one goal.
Reminder: Several Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee.
