Yesterday evening, Birmingham, which is headed by one of the legends ofManchester United, Wayne Rooney, suffered a 2-0 defeat in the confrontation against Coventry City. Since Rooney's appointment as Birmingham's coach by the new American consortium led by minority owner, Tom Brady, the team has taken only 5 out of 27 points. Currently, Birmingham occupies the 16th spot in the Championship, and their chances of relegation to League One are becoming increasingly realistic.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Rooney expressed the need for everyone to brace for hard work.

"It's disappointing. It's frustrating, but we need to roll up our sleeves. We need to regroup. We're going through a tough period, we know that. But we have to come together and stick together to earn more points."

Birmingham's descent in the standings coincided with Rooney's unexpected appointment as the club's new coach in October. Former manager John Yustas had placed Birmingham in sixth place and initiated a fight for a playoff spot before his replacement. Now, hopes for advancement have dimmed, and the fans of the Blues can only hope to avoid relegation.

The new American owners consider Rooney a part of their long-term project in Birmingham. However, it wouldn't be surprising if his tenure is cut short. With a lack of ideas and inspiration, the Blues might turn to the transfer market in January, leaving Rooney's future at the helm uncertain.
