"We have excelled above our limits" — Doctor Khumalo speaks out after landing key SAFA role
Legendary Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Doctor Khumalo has stepped into a major administrative role at the South African Football Association (SAFA) and believes the country's national sides are heading in the right direction.
Details: Khumalo was officially appointed as Vice-Chairperson of the SAFA Technical Committee, where he will deputize for Chairperson Jack Maluleke. The move was confirmed by SAFA President Danny Jordaan following the newly elected National Executive Committee's three-day meeting in Sandton. Speaking to SABC Sport and Radio 2000, the 59-year-old praised the work already done at the federation while stressing the importance of consistency.

"I've been shadowing this national team and other national teams we have here in South Africa, especially the development side of it and Banyana Banyana. I must praise SAFA because if you look at our development structures, we have excelled above our limits. But now we need to make sure that we don't lose the plot and that we don't lose ourselves," Khumalo stated.
In his new position, Khumalo will help oversee national team coaching appointments, training methodologies, and performance reviews across all levels. He also emphasized that his mission is not about personal glory, but rather a collective effort to advance football in South Africa and open more doors for former players in governance.
It is worth noting that Doctor Khumalo earned 50 caps and scored nine goals for Bafana Bafana, playing a pivotal role in South Africa's historic 1996 Africa Cup of Nations triumph.
