"We couldn't believe it." McTominay shares his experience meeting the Pope
Immediately after clinching the Serie A title, Napoli set off for an audience with Pope Leo XIV, who had only been chosen by the conclave a few weeks prior. The Neapolitan squad was genuinely awestruck by the occasion.
Details: Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay shared his impressions of the audience with the pontiff, admitting that the invitation took him by surprise but was a tremendous honor.
Quote: "It all happened pretty quickly, as we were still celebrating. Then we went to see him, and it was just incredible.
Honestly, it was all a bit surreal, because the night before we went to bed very late and woke up early. It turned out to be a long day. We traveled by train—and that was amazing in itself.
It was a huge honor. When I told my family we were going, they couldn't believe it. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," the Scotsman told talkSPORT.
