WBA has officially confirmed that Gervonta Davis will assume the title in the lightweight division, as reported by journalist Michael Benson.

Sources indicate that following Devin Haney's departure, Davis has become the sole holder of the title. Up until this point, Gervonta held the WBA Regular belt in the lightweight category. However, Devin Haney decided to vacate the WBA, WBO, and IBF belts at the end of November, stating that he has already achieved everything he aimed for in this weight class.

Gervonta Davis is an American professional boxer competing in super featherweight, lightweight, light welterweight, and light middleweight divisions. Among professionals, he is a three-weight world champion: the current regular WBA world champion (since 2021) in light middleweight, the former regular WBA world champion (2019) in lightweight, and the former WBA Super (2018-2019, 2020-2021) and IBF (2017) world champion in super featherweight.

In his latest bout in April 2023, Davis secured an early victory over Ryan Garcia. In July, Gervonta was released from Baltimore prison after spending 44 days due to a violation of the terms of his home confinement.
