Waited two years for this! Dele Alli was sent off in debut match for Como
Dele Alli returned to professional football in December 2024 when he was allowed to train with Italian side Como. After a successful trial, he was offered a contract until the end of the season, with an option to extend until June 2026.
In the Serie A match against Milan (1-2), Fabregas brought the Englishman onto the field for the first time after a 735-day hiatus. The player appeared in the 81st minute of the match, but his time on the field was short-lived: a few minutes later, he received a caution for a foul against Ruben Loftus-Cheek. After reviewing the VAR, the referee upgraded the caution to a red card, deciding that Alli had tackled the opponent's ankle too harshly, risking a serious injury.
Prior to this, Dele Alli last played in official matches in February 2023 for Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig. At that time, he was on loan from Everton.
