WAFU-B: USFA dominate Dynamique FC of Calavi and get off to a flying start in the tournament
The qualifying tournament for the CAF Women’s Champions League got underway on Sunday 23 August in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Group A kicked off with the match between Burkina Faso’s USFA and Benin’s Dynamique FC de Calavi at the Stade du 04 Août.
But the Burkinabé side, USFA, got the better of their Beninese opponents. USFA took control of the match from the first half onwards, though they were unable to break the deadlock.
The deadlock was broken in the second half, however. Assanatou Nako found the back of the net in the 54th minute to make it 1–0 and give the Burkinabé side the lead.
Déborah Guira doubled the lead in the 73rd minute to make it 2–0. USFA’s victory was sealed by captain Stéphanie Sow. She scored the Burkinabe club’s third goal in the 86th minute.
A successful start for Burkina Faso’s USFA, which is organising the WAFU-B tournament. The Burkinabe club has thus got off to the best possible start in the competition, which will run until 5 September .
The group stage will continue with further fixtures in Group A and Group B.
