WAFU B U20: Niger secure their place in the semi-finals

The Niger U20 national team have qualified despite their defeat to Ivory Coast on the final matchday of Group A.

The young Nigeriens are keeping their dream of qualifying for the 2027 U20 Africa Cup of Nations alive. The Niger U20 team will contest the semi-finals of the WAFU B tournament, which has been taking place for the past few days in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast.

Although the young Nigeriens lost 2–0 to Ivory Coast on Saturday 1 August on the final matchday of Group A, they secured their place in the next round of the competition. Indeed, Niger qualified thanks to their victory over Benin a few days ago.

The Nigerien team had beaten the U20 Cheetahs 1–0 on the matchday 1 of the tournament. Thanks to this single victory, Niger finished second in Group A of the WAFU B tournament, thereby securing their place in the semi-finals.
