WAFU B U20: Ivory Coast secure their place in the semi-finals following their victory over Niger
The U20 Elephants secured two wins from as many matches to finish top of their group.
Ivory Coast have secured their place in the semi-finals of the WAFU B qualifying tournament for the 2027 U20 Africa Cup of Nations. The young Ivorians came through the group stage in fine style. They had beaten Benin 5–0 in their opening match before following that up with a win against Niger on Saturday 1 August.
The Ivory Coast U20 national team secured victory this afternoon against Niger at the Lycée Scientifique in Yamoussoukro. The Ivorians dominated the Nigeriens, winning 2–0. Laurent Adje opened the scoring for Côte d’Ivoire in the 56th minute to make it 1–0, before Namory Keita sealed victory for the Elephants in the 95th minute, making it 2–0.
Thanks to these two victories, the Ivorians finish top of Group A with 6 points. Niger, meanwhile, finish second in Group A with 3 points.
