The Black Satellites held their own against the U20 Stallions despite being a man down in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast.

The second match of the second day of Group B in the WAFU B tournament, a qualifier for the 2027 U20 Africa Cup of Nations, saw Burkina Faso take on Ghana. The two teams went into the match with different ambitions.

The Burkinabe were aiming to win the match and secure their place in the tournament’s semi-finals following their 3-1 victory over Togo on the first day of the group stage. For their part, Ghana desperately needed a win to get back on track after their 4-2 defeat to Nigeria in their opening Group B fixture.

From the kick-off, the two teams were locked in a fierce battle. Burkina Faso took the lead through Lookman Ashraf Tapsoba, who opened the scoring from a free-kick in the 33rd minute, making it 1–0.

Ghana were reduced to 10 men following Kofi Junior Kumah’s sending-off for a foul. However, the Black Satellites did not let up. They snatched an equaliser before half-time through Joseph Badu, making it 1–1. But the score remained unchanged until the final whistle.
