Benin and Togo will not be competing in the 2027 U20 Africa Cup of Nations. Neither U20 side was able to keep up with the pace of the qualifiers for the WAFU B U20 tournament, which has been taking place in Yamoussoukro for the past few days.
Benin suffered a heavy 5–0 defeat against Ivory Coast in their first Group A match. However, Benin’s U20 side were unable to bounce back against Niger in their second fixture, losing 1–0 to the Niger team. These two defeats sealed the U20 Cheetahs’ elimination from the race for qualification for the 2027 U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
Togo fared no better. Beaten 3–1 by Burkina Faso in their first Group B match, the Togolese side lost 3–0 to Nigeria on the second matchday.
