WAFU-B CAF Women's Champions League qualifier: EDO Queens thrash AS GNN in Group B
The Nigerian side got off to a flying start in the CAF Women's Champions League qualifying tournament, which is taking place in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. In their first match in Group B, EDO Queens pulled out all the stops.
The Nigerians outclassed their Nigerien counterparts, AS GNN, with a resounding 7-0 victory. EDO Queens took control of the match from the first half thanks to a brace from Chioma Moses.
She found the net in the 5th minute to make it 1–0, before doubling the lead in first-half stoppage time to make it 2–0. But the second half proved disastrous for the AS GNN girls.
EDO Queens stepped up the pace with a flurry of goals. Anastasia Doosuur stood out with a brace in the 47th and 76th minutes, taking the score to 4–0.
Chioma Moses found the net again in the 75th minute to make it 5–0, thereby completing a hat-trick. Aminat Folorunso and Oluwakemi Adegbuyi each scored a goal for EDO Queens to seal a 7–0 victory for the Nigerian side.
A flying start for EDO Queens, who have taken control of Group B in the race to qualify for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
