Zambia captain Barbra Banda was named the official TotalEnergies Woman of the Match following her outstanding performance in the Copper Queens' 2-1 victory over Malawi at the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Banda once again demonstrated why she is regarded as one of Africa's finest forwards, inspiring Zambia with another influential display despite her side narrowly missing out on a place in the quarter-finals.

The striker wasted little time making an impact, opening the scoring inside the first minute with a powerful long-range effort that gave the Copper Queens the perfect start.

Her goal, which was her fifth of the tournament, set the tone for Zambia's impressive attacking performance before Prisca Chilufya doubled the lead later in the first half.

Although Malawi eventually progressed to the knockout stage on goal difference despite the defeat, Banda's commanding display earned widespread praise.
