WAFCON 2026: the fixtures for matchday 3 of Group C
Defending champions Nigeria will face Egypt, whilst Malawi will take on Zambia.
The third and final matchday of Group C at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, currently taking place in Morocco, will be played on Wednesday 5 August. Both matches are scheduled for 8 pm GMT.
This matchday is decisive in a group where everything is still to play for. Nigeria, who face Egypt, have three points following their surprise 3-2 defeat in their opening match against Malawi.
The ten-time African champions got back on track by beating Zambia 1–0 in the Group C clash on the second matchday, reigniting the race for the quarter-finals.
Zambia, who thrashed Egypt 6–0 in their opening match, also have three points. The Copper Queens, who face Malawi this evening, can no longer afford any slip-ups. Malawi have won both of their group stage matches and currently top Group C.
But despite Malawi’s lead, everything is still possible on this third and final matchday in Group C. The slightest slip-up will prove costly.
Group C standings:
- Malawi – 6 points
- Nigeria – 3 points
- Zambia – 3 points
- Egypt – 0 point
