WAFCON 2026: Super Falcons to Miss Tosin Demehin and Jennifer Echegini Against Egypt

The Super Falcons will be without Tosin Demehin and Jennifer Echegini for their decisive Group C clash against Egypt at the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after both players were suspended following Nigeria's victory over Zambia.

The duo will miss Wednesday night's encounter due to disciplinary sanctions, handing head coach Justine Madugu an important selection headache ahead of Nigeria's final group-stage fixture.

Defender Tosin Demehin received a straight red card during the Super Falcons' hard-fought 1-0 win over Zambia after bringing down Barbra Banda, who was through on goal in the 40th minute.

Midfielder Jennifer Echegini also picked up a yellow card in the same match, her second caution of the tournament. Under CAF's disciplinary regulations, accumulating two yellow cards in the group stage results in an automatic one-match suspension.

Nigeria head into the final Group C fixture knowing that a positive result could secure their place in the knockout stages and keep alive their bid to retain the WAFCON title.
