WAFCON 2026: only three teams have a perfect record after two matchdays of the group stage
Morocco, Malawi and Cameroon have won their first two matches of the tournament, which is being held in Morocco.
The 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations has been in full swing in Morocco since 25 July. The teams taking part in the competition are currently vying for a place in the quarter-finals.
The second day of the group stage concluded on Sunday 2 August. Following these two matches, certain teams have stood out. These are Morocco, Malawi and Cameroon.
In Group A, the Atlas Lionesses remain undefeated after two matches. The Moroccans thrashed Kenya 4–0 in the tournament’s opening match before securing a narrow 1–0 victory over Algeria on the matchday 2.
Meanwhile, Malawi are causing a sensation in the tournament. In their first-ever appearance, the Malawi team beat defending champions Nigeria 3–2 on the first matchday of Group C, before beating Egypt 3–1 on the second matchday.
As for Cameroon, they have secured two wins in Group D. The Indomitable Lionesses got the better of Mali 2–1 on the first matchday before beating Ghana 1–0 on Sunday 2 August on the second matchday.
