WAFCON 2026: Ghana's Black Queens Defeat Ivory Coast in Friendly Ahead of Tournament

Ghana's Black Queens continued their preparations for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Ivory Coast in a pre-tournament friendly.

The only goal of the match came in the 75th minute, when Sharon Sampson found the back of the net to hand the Black Queens a deserved win.

The encounter was played behind closed doors as both teams used the fixture to build up confidence ahead of the WAFCON 2026. The Black Stars will now turn their attention to their next warm-up game against Nigeria’s Super Falcons.
