Several forwards stood out for their clinical finishing during the first round of the tournament, which is taking place in Morocco.

The group stage of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations concluded on Thursday 6 August. At the end of this first round, certain players made a real difference thanks to their attacking prowess.

Topping the top scorers’ chart, Zambia’s Barbra Banda has an impressive tally of five goals in just three matches. The Zambian striker has established herself as the clear leader of the standings with an average of more than one goal per match.

However, Zambia’s elimination at the group stage could deal a blow to Barbra Banda’s hopes of winning the tournament’s top scorer title. Behind the Zambian striker, three players are tied for second place with three goals each.

Ivory Coast’s Inès Konan has found the net three times in three group stage matches. Malawi’s Temwa Chawinga also has three goals from three matches. Finally, Cameroon’s Marie Gisele Ngah completes this trio with three goals in as many matches.
