Vozinha reveals how the World Cup changed his mind
A key figure in the Cape Verde national team, the goalkeeper has put his international retirement on hold.
Vozinha revealed that he had considered ending his international career before changing his mind thanks to the support of his teammates. In an interview with Goalkeeper, the Cape Verdean goalkeeper explained that he had been going through a period of reflection regarding his commitment to the Blue Sharks. But the World Cup prospect ultimately swayed his decision.
“I was thinking of leaving the national team. All my teammates spoke to me; they encouraged me to stay because of the World Cup, and that’s why I stayed. Because it was my dream, all of our dreams. ”
From the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations to the historic qualification for the 2026 World Cup, Vozinha has been an integral part of Cape Verde’s journey. He has made 88 appearances for the Blue Sharks.
