Yesterday, the 2025/2026 European club season kicked off with the first qualifying round matches of the Champions League. Right from the start, a bizarre incident unfolded, quickly going viral across social media.
Details: In this round, the champions of Wales, TNS, faced off against North Macedonia's Shkendija. During the match, one of the home team's players suffered an injury and had to be substituted.
Surprisingly, the substitute's jersey was missing a number. The solution was both swift and unconventional: the number was simply drawn on the shirt with a regular marker.
The match itself ended in a goalless draw, and the team to face the winner of FCSB (Romania) vs. Inter Club d’Escaldes (Andorra) will be decided in the return leg in North Macedonia.
Reminder: Earlier, UEFA introduced changes affecting the playoff round format of European competitions.
