(Video) Wilfred Ndidi Gifts SUV to Former Coach Nduka Ugbade in Touching Tribute

In a selfless act of appreciation, Wilfred Ndidi gave his former grassroots coach, Nduka Ugbade, a car. Ndidi attributes his growth as a football player to Ugbade.
The Super Eagles midfielder, 28, was seen on camera giving Ugbade an emotional embrace before giving him the keys to a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV). He was just relegated to Leicester City at the end of the 2024–25 season.
“This is just my way of saying thank you to a man who believed in me before the world did,” Ndidi said.
Ugbade’s Enduring Legacy in Nigerian Football
Nduka Ugbade, now 55, is a celebrated figure in Nigerian football history. He was part of the iconic squad that won the inaugural FIFA U-17 World Cup in 1985 in China, then known as the Kodak FIFA U-16 World Tournament, beating West Germany 2-0 in the final.
He later represented Nigeria at the U-17, U-20, and senior levels, before turning to coaching in 2003. The Golden Eaglets advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2023 AFCON season under Ugbade's most recent leadership.
Ndidi’s Journey: From Grassroots to Global Stage
It is generally known how Ndidi went from being a local Nigerian talent to becoming a Premier League star. He has made 303 appearances since joining Leicester City from Genk in 2017, tallying 18 goals and dishing out 22 assists across all competitions.
Ndidi made 30 appearances in the just finished 2024–25 season, recording one goal in the League Cup and five assists in the Premier League.
Ndidi remains a staple for the Super Eagles and is respected for his professionalism and humility in spite of Leicester's relegation.
