(Video) Raja Casablanca Victimized by Comical Own Goal in CAF Champions League
In their exciting game against FUS Rabat in the CAF Champions League Group B, Raja Casablanca scored a funny own goal.
During the 40th minute of the match in Rabat, FUS Rabat took the lead. Youssef Belamari, a defender for Raja Casablanca, accidentally kicked the ball into his own net after a corner kick, resulting in the goal. The ball hit goalkeeper Anas Zniti, but it slipped through his hands and went into the net, even though he tried hard to stop it.
The Egyptian referee, Mohamed Ma'arouf, had no choice but to award the goal after confirming the ball had fully crossed the line before Zniti could recover it.
FUS Rabat led 1-0 at the conclusion of the first half, but Raja equalized with a penalty kick in the second half, resulting in a 1-1 tie. FUS Rabat was able to advance to the next round despite the game ending in a tie. Raja's future in the competition is uncertain, and they will have to wait for the last match to see if they can move forward.
In the first game of the group stage, FUS Rabat beat Raja Casablanca 2-0.
Right now, FUS Rabat is leading the group with 8 points, tied with Mamelodi Sundowns but having played one fewer game. Raja Casablanca is in third place with 4 points, and Maniema Union from the DRC is at the bottom with 3 points.
