A fan of the Argentine football club Racing brought his grandfather’s skull to the Copa Sudamericana final. The match took place on Saturday in Asunción, Paraguay’s capital.
Details. According to ESPN Argentina, the fan explained that he brought the skull of his grandfather, a devoted Racing supporter, to the game. He added that he always takes his grandfather along to matches.
This is not the first time the skull of Valentín Aguilera has been seen at a sporting event. In 2019, fan Gabriel Aranda also brought the skull to celebrate Racing’s victory in the Argentine league.
Context. Racing won their first-ever Copa Sudamericana title by defeating Brazil’s Cruzeiro 3-1. Gastón Martirena opened the scoring in the 15th minute, followed by Adrián Martínez doubling the lead in the 21st. Cruzeiro attempted a comeback in the second half with Caio Jorge scoring in the 53rd minute, but Roger Martínez sealed the victory for Racing.
