Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe received his debut red card following his transfer to Spain. The striker was sent off in the first half of the La Liga match against Alaves.
In the 38th minute of the match, Mbappe delivered a harsh tackle on Antonio Blanco's leg. The referee initially showed the French striker a yellow card. However, his VAR colleagues requested a review of the incident. After watching the replay, Soto Grado changed his decision and showed a red card.
A straight red card for rough play could lead to additional disciplinary action against the player. It is possible that Mbappe will receive more than a one-match suspension. However, it is too early to speculate, and we must wait for the official decision.
The last time Kylian Mbappe earned a red card in club football was in the 2019/2020 season when he was playing for PSG. In that instance, during the French Cup match against Rennes, he was sent off in the 118th minute, also for a rough foul.
