Pachuca’s hopes of adding Arturo Vidal to their Club World Cup squad have fallen through. According to Mediotiempo journalist Rubén Rodríguez, Colo-Colo refused to loan out the Chilean midfielder, despite Vidal’s desire to join the Mexican side for the tournament.

“Arturo Vidal wanted to play the Club World Cup with Pachuca. His team, Colo-Colo, didn’t agree to release him. The Chilean won’t be joining the Tuzos,” Rodríguez posted on X. The deal collapsed despite Pachuca’s intention to inject veteran leadership into the squad.

Vidal had shown interest in joining the Liga MX side for the prestigious competition, but Colo-Colo chose to retain one of their key players, opting against releasing him for a temporary stint abroad.

Still, Pachuca managed to reinforce their roster. Goalkeeper Sebastián Jurado will join on loan from FC Juárez, offering depth between the posts as the club prepares for a challenging group stage.

FIFA regulations for the revamped 32-team tournament allow clubs to "replace and add players" during an extended registration window from June 27 to July 3—just ten days before the Final—providing further opportunities for roster adjustments.

Pachuca will open their Club World Cup campaign on June 18 against FC Salzburg in Cincinnati, then face Real Madrid on June 22 in Charlotte, and finish the group stage on June 26 against Al Hilal in Nashville. With Vidal ruled out and Jurado on board, the Tuzos continue fine-tuning their squad for a high-stakes international test.
