Those involved are suspected of match-fixing.
This decision was taken following the Cameroonian club’s 4-1 defeat against Aigle Royal de la Menoua on 10 May during matchday 18 of the Elite One. The Limbe-based club lost despite having a numerical advantage. According to the local press, Victoria United justified its decision by citing a desire to preserve the integrity of football and professionalism.
Team captain Nguefack Laurian, vice-captain Bryann Tchana Nana, Osogo Carl Eyong, Agbor Meldin Ashu, Sterly Peto and goalkeeper Mouelle Yobi Jason are the players accused and suspended by the club. For the time being, they will no longer be able to wear the club’s shirt.
