Victor Wanyama Returns to Europe, Joins Dunfermline Athletic
After four seasons at CF Montreal, Victor Wanyama is back in European football! The former Kenya national team captain has signed with Dunfermline Athletic, a club battling relegation in Scotland’s second division.
A Reunion with Neil Lennon
The 32-year-old midfielder will once again play under Neil Lennon, his former coach at Celtic Glasgow. Together, they won two Scottish league titles, a national cup, and made impressive Champions League runs between 2011 and 2013.
This time, however, the task is much tougher. Dunfermline Athletic sits 9th out of 10 teams in the league, occupying a relegation playoff spot. They are just two points behind Hamilton, the first team outside the danger zone.
Six Matches to Save the Club
Wanyama has signed a short-term deal until the end of the season, with only six games left to help his team avoid relegation. His first test comes on Saturday, March 29, when Dunfermline faces a tough away match against third-placed Ayr United.
