Victor Osimhen has been crowned Footballer of the Year at the 72nd edition of the Milliyet Sports Awards, one of Turkey’s most prestigious sporting honours.
The Nigerian striker earned the recognition for his outstanding performances with Galatasaray, where he played a key role in the club’s historic domestic double last season. Osimhen delivered an impressive campaign, scoring 37 goals and providing seven assists as Galatasaray clinched both the Süper Lig title and the Turkish Cup.
The awards ceremony, held on Thursday night and often referred to as the “Oscars of sports” in Turkey, also marked a historic milestone, with Osimhen becoming the first Nigerian to receive the prestigious accolade.
