Victor Osimhen Returns from Injury as Galatasaray Fall to Gençlerbirliği in Turkish Cup

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen made his long-awaited return from injury, but it was not enough to prevent Galatasaray from slipping to a 2-0 defeat against Gençlerbirliği in their Turkish Cup clash at Rams Park on Wednesday.

Osimhen had been out of action after sustaining a forearm fracture during a UEFA Champions League Round of 16 encounter against Liverpool at Anfield. His return will come as a major boost for both club and country following a spell on the sidelines.

The Nigerian international was introduced late in the game, coming on for Renato Nhaga with just over ten minutes remaining. Despite his presence, Galatasaray were unable to mount a comeback.

Goals from Fıratcan Üzüm and Adama Traoré secured a comfortable win for the visitors, sending Gençlerbirliği through while Galatasaray bowed out of the competition.
