Victor Boniface Set for Potential Return as Werder Bremen Boss Offers Injury Update

Werder Bremen head coach Daniel Thioune has hinted that Nigerian forward Victor Boniface could be in line for a return to first-team action as early as this weekend.

Speaking ahead of their upcoming clash with Hamburger SV, Thioune provided a cautious but optimistic update on the striker’s condition, making it clear that a comeback has not been ruled out.

In comments reported by Weser-Kurier, Thioune said he remains open-minded about Boniface’s availability:

"We're not ruling any player out, not even Victor. If we see an opportunity and he adapts, then it's possible he'll return to competitive action. I'm also reserving the right to assess his participation in tomorrow's final training session."

Boniface has been out of action since December 2025 after suffering a serious knee injury that required surgery, sidelining him for several months.
