“Very few people believed in us,” Easther Mayi Kith relishes Cameroon’s qualification for the 2027 Women’s World Cup

The Cameroonian defender emphasised that this qualification is the reward for a team that never stopped believing.

Cameroon have secured their place at the 2027 Women’s World Cup by reaching the semi-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. This qualification was hard-fought, following a remarkable run in the tournament taking place in Morocco.

Following this achievement, Easther Mayi Kith recalled that some had doubted the Indomitable Lionesses’ ability at the start of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. But, driven by a team spirit, the Cameroonian women have done it.

“We’ve finally done it. We’ve qualified for the World Cup. Very few people believed in us, but against all odds, we’ve done it. I’m very happy and proud of this team. We’re off to Brazil!”

Cameroon will be taking part in the Women’s World Cup for the third time in its history. The Indomitable Lionesses competed in the 2015 and 2019 World Cups.

The Indomitable Lionesses will face Morocco in the semi-finals of WAFCON 2026 on Wednesday 12 August.
