Verstappen to have a new teammate as Pérez leaves Red Bull
Sergio Pérez's four-year partnership with Red Bull appears to be coming to an end, with reigning champion Max Verstappen set to have a new teammate next season.
Details: According to Canal+, Red Bull has decided to part ways with Pérez, and an official announcement is expected by the end of the week. Pérez’s replacement has already been identified as VCARB driver Liam Lawson, who previously stepped in for Daniel Ricciardo after the United States Grand Prix.
Reminder: Pérez has raced alongside Verstappen since 2021. In the recently concluded season, he failed to win any of the 24 races, managed only one fastest lap, and finished eighth in the overall standings with 152 points.
In the 2023 season, "Checo" finished second behind his teammate Verstappen, while in 2022, he placed third behind Verstappen and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
