Max Verstappen clinched pole position in the Japanese Grand Prix qualifying, outpacing the McLaren drivers. Despite the Woking team being the favorites, their main rivals turned out to be George Russell and Verstappen. Russell attempted to fight for pole but couldn't improve his time on the second attempt, falling short to Verstappen.

Lando Norris looked like a strong contender in the first sector, but in the final attempt, Verstappen posted a phenomenal time, edging out Norris by 0.012 seconds. Oscar Piastri finished the qualifying in third, trailing Max by 0.044 seconds. Charles Leclerc completed the top four, while Russell was fifth.

The Japanese Grand Prix kicks off on Sunday, April 6, at 8:00 AM Central European Time.
