Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen has encountered a significant penalty ahead of the upcoming Belgian Grand Prix.

For changing his internal combustion engine for the fifth time this season, Verstappen will be penalized 10 positions on the starting grid.

It's worth noting that due to the unique characteristics of the Spa circuit, Verstappen's components have been changed before the race for the third consecutive time.

Verstappen is the current leader in this season's Formula 1 standings. The Dutchman has won 7 out of 13 races and accumulated 265 points. In the previous Hungarian Grand Prix, Verstappen finished fifth.

The Belgian Grand Prix will take place from July 26 to 28.
