Vedat Muriqi responds to Samuel Eto’o’s congratulations

The RCD Mallorca striker expressed his gratitude to the former Indomitable Lion, who congratulated him after he broke his La Liga goalscoring record with Mallorca.

Vedat Muriqi says he was surprised by the video message Samuel Eto’o sent him a few days after he became Mallorca’s all-time leading goalscorer in La Liga, overtaking the Cameroonian. The Kosovan international says he was moved by the attention shown to him by the former Cameroonian international. He expressed his gratitude and mentioned the tremendous work Eto’o accomplished during his time at RCD Mallorca.

I wasn’t expecting it. First of all, thank you very much, especially coming from a true legend like Samuel Eto’o. I’m very grateful for his words. I know he did a tremendous job here, and everyone knows the career he went on to have. I sincerely thank him for taking the time to record this video and congratulate me. I’ve been a professional for 15 or 16 years. If someone had told me 15 years ago that one day Samuel Eto’o would send me a video, I would have said it was impossible, a joke. And yet, here we are today. I’m very, very proud of myself. A huge thank you to him for the video. And as I always say: thank you to my teammates, to all the club staff, to the fans, to my family, to the island… Because without you, I say this from the bottom of my heart, it would have been impossible to get this far. A huge thank you to everyone.
