VAR to be introduced in the Ivorian Ligue 1 next season
An initial trial will take place on 29 May
The Ivorian Football Federation has received certification from FIFA.
VAR will be a reality next season in the Ivorian professional league. Everything is now in place for the use of this technology, said Félix Assoumou, vice-president of the Central Referees’ Committee of Ivory Coast.
“It has been a long process, but we are pleased to announce that we have received FIFA certification for the use of VAR in our Ligue 1 championship. "
This FIFA certification is the result of a process that began last year. But ahead of the start of the 2026–2027 season, this VAR technology will be trialled during the National Cup final between SOA and Korhogo on 29 May.
