VAR Equipment Arrives in Ivory Coast After FIFA Approval

Ivory Coast has taken a major step toward modernising its domestic football structure after receiving official approval from FIFA for the introduction of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology.

The arrival of the VAR equipment marks a key milestone in the country’s long-term plan to improve officiating standards and align its domestic league with global football practices. The system is expected to be fully integrated into the local top-flight league from the 2026/27 season.

Before its official rollout, the system was tested live during the Ivory Coast FA Cup final between SOA and Korhogo.
