Federico Valverde, now a key player for Real Madrid, might have ended up at a different top club had fate taken a different turn. The Uruguayan midfielder revealed that he once had a trial with a Premier League powerhouse.
Details: Valverde shared that at the age of 16, while still playing for Uruguayan side Peñarol, he was invited by Arsenal to train with their first team for a week. Although he didn’t join the London club, the experience left a lasting impression on him.
Quote: "I was 16 years old. They invited me to train with the first team for a week. I imagined my whole future there. When I arrived in England, it was such a great experience. I saw the gear they trained in… It was a different world. I enjoyed that week a lot.
I don’t know if he remembers me, but El Dibu [Emiliano Martinez] was one of the people who helped me the most. He was the first to approach me, along with Bellerin, Alexis Sanchez, and Cazorla. A few months later, I was already training with Peñarol's first team," Valverde told Diario AS.
Reminder: Recently, reports have surfaced that Real Madrid might consider selling the 26-year-old midfielder.
