Valentín Gómez Remains at Vélez as Transfer Uncertainty Lingers

Valentín Gómez continues to be a central figure in every transfer window, yet each attempt to move him abroad seems to fall short. As reported by TyC Sports, the 22-year-old center back has once again attracted interest this summer, but no offer has met Vélez Sarsfield’s expectations so far.
The most chaotic episode came during his failed move to Udinese. Gómez traveled to Italy and trained independently while awaiting the deal’s closure, which collapsed when Foster Gillet’s investment group failed to make payment. Prior to that, River Plate walked away due to medical concerns, and Cruzeiro backed out over a meniscal issue in his left knee. That same Brazilian club has reignited its interest with a loan offer, but Vélez quickly rejected it.
Despite physical setbacks, Gómez has amassed 124 matches and three goals for Vélez. This season, however, he’s featured just 14 times, returning late after the Udinese situation. While his talent is evident, medical doubts still hover over potential deals, making clubs hesitant to invest.
Vélez is open to selling and could benefit financially, but only if the right offer arrives. For now, Gómez remains under Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s orders, though all signs suggest his days in Liniers are numbered.
