Today, Netflix unveiled a documentary about Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior. The release has sparked outrage in Valencia, to say the least.

Details: According to Relevo, Los Che are preparing legal action against the film’s producers, claiming that one of its episodes damages the club’s reputation.

The controversy centers on a segment from a match between the teams in May 2023. Vinicius Junior was sent off following an altercation with Hugo Duro, and as he left the pitch, fans shouted "tonto," which means “idiot” in Spanish. However, the subtitles rendered this as "mono," or “monkey,” a word carrying a racist connotation in this context.

Valencia insists this misrepresents the facts and undermines the club’s efforts to identify and punish those responsible.

Reminder: Earlier reports stated that Valencia is set to receive a loan to finance the construction of the Nuevo Mestalla stadium.
