😢 Valencia defender who suffered horrific injury could end his career

Valencia's center-back, Mouctar Diakhaby, may never play professional football again, according to orthopedic surgeon Enrique Gastaldi, as expressed in a comment to Marca.

"This is an extremely rare injury. It is the most severe knee injury a footballer can experience. It's likely he tore four or five ligaments. It's a brutal injury. When the knee dislocates, the bone is out of place. To dislocate the bone, the ligaments must tear. There is no time limit for this type of injury. It may require one or two surgeries. There is a high probability that Diakhaby may never be able to play football again," stated Gastaldi.

It is worth recalling that Diakhaby suffered a horrific knee injury following a collision with Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni. According to initial estimates, he is expected to be sidelined for 9 to 12 months.

The 27-year-old Guinean defender joined Valencia from Lyon in the summer of 2018. In the current La Liga season, he has participated in 14 matches and scored one goal.
