Vaccari Faces Tough Rotation Call as Independiente Juggles Tight Schedule

Independiente sits atop Group B in the 2025 Apertura, but head coach Julio Vaccari now faces a critical decision. With three matches in just ten days, the Argentine manager must weigh whether to rest key starters in Friday’s clash against Atlético Tucumán. According to TyC Sports, the focus may already be shifting toward Tuesday’s decisive Copa Sudamericana fixture against Guaraní in Paraguay.

Although a fully rotated lineup is unlikely, signs suggest Vaccari will preserve several regulars for the continental showdown. Currently third in Group A of the Sudamericana, Independiente is under pressure to claim victory in Paraguay to stay alive in the competition.

The fixture congestion comes at a relatively favorable time domestically. The team has already secured a spot in the Apertura’s round of 16, allowing Vaccari some flexibility to manage his squad's workload without jeopardizing the league campaign.

Adding to the good news, striker Matías Giménez Rojas—who played briefly in the recent win over San Martín de San Juan and reported some discomfort—has been cleared of injury and should be available for selection against Atlético Tucumán.

As Independiente balances two competitions, Vaccari’s rotation choices could prove decisive. With momentum in the league and urgency in the Sudamericana, the coach must strike the right balance to keep both dreams alive.
