Usyk assessed Zhilei's fight against Wilder and named the reason for the American's defeat
The undisputed world heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk, assessed the bout between Zhang Zhilei and Deontay Wilder.
In an interview with 3 Knockdown Rule, the Ukrainian remarked that this fight marked the end of Wilder's dominance in the heavyweight division. Besides his right-hand punches, Wilder did nothing else in the ring.
"We likely witnessed the end of Wilder's dominance in the heavyweight division. He attempted to knock out Zhang with his right hand, landed a few dangerous punches on the Chinese fighter, but this ultimately led to his downfall because Wilder did nothing else in the ring, he didn't throw combinations.
Deontay has lost 4 of his last 5 fights...and his legs, they were too skinny, he didn't use them effectively," Usyk stated.
Additionally, Oleksandr Usyk shared his potential future plans. The Ukrainian boxer mentioned that he is considering a return to cruiserweight to once again become the undisputed champion.
It's also worth noting that the IBF has confirmed that Daniel Dubois is now the mandatory challenger for the IBF world title held by Oleksandr Usyk, following the British boxer's victory over Filip Hrgović.
