USL Championship Week 15 Recap: Louisville Dominates, Loudoun and Charleston Chase, Phoenix Salvages a Point

Week 15 in the USL Championship reinforced Louisville City FC’s status as the team to beat while tightening the race across both conferences. As reported by the league, LouCity capped a remarkable eight-day stretch with a 4-2 win over Birmingham, fueled by Phillip Goodrum’s hat trick and Taylor Davila’s league-best three-assist performance. The club is now unbeaten in 13 games this season and 19 overall, with a staggering home record of 22-1-1 since the start of 2024.
In the East, Charleston Battery kept pace with a clinical win in Hartford, extending their scoring streak to 17 games. Loudoun United made another statement by defeating Detroit, with Abdellatif Aboukoura scoring a solo beauty that’s up for Goal of the Week. Meanwhile, North Carolina FC dropped points in a narrow loss to Rhode Island, conceding a late penalty that cost them fourth place.
Out West, FC Tulsa fired 29 shots but needed to settle for a draw with Phoenix Rising, who were rescued by a dazzling effort from Ihsan Sacko. New Mexico United stayed top despite a surprising defeat to Lexington, while San Antonio’s scoreless draw with Sacramento helped both remain in the playoff hunt. Orange County, meanwhile, put together a dominant 3-0 win over El Paso.
In the standings, Louisville leads the East with 31 points, followed by Charleston and Loudoun. In the West, New Mexico holds the lead with 22 points, but Tulsa and San Antonio are right behind. As for the Fans' Goal of the Week, Marco Micaletto’s sublime free kick for Colorado Springs might just steal the spotlight.
