The past weekend delivered one of golf’s premier tournaments—the third major of the season, the U.S. Open. And it crowned a new champion.

Details: American golfer J.J. Spaun clinched the title, finishing two strokes ahead of his closest rival and securing the major with a score of "-1" relative to par. Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre took second place with a score of "+1," while Viktor Hovland finished third at "+2."

As for the South African contingent at the U.S. Open, two players made it to the final round: Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Triston Lawrence. Both wrapped up the major at "+6," sharing a tie for 12th place overall.

While this result isn’t Lawrence’s career-best at the majors—he finished fourth at the 2024 PGA Championship—for Bezuidenhout, it marks a personal best at this level of competition.
