Leandro Cabrera will continue wearing Espanyol’s jersey for at least another year. The Barcelona-based club confirmed the Uruguayan defender has signed a contract extension through June 2026, with an optional additional season based on performance clauses.
Now 33, Cabrera was a consistent starter throughout the 2024/25 La Liga season, playing 33 matches and scoring a career-best five goals.
Since joining from Getafe in January 2020, he has made 208 official appearances for the Periquitos, proving to be a reliable figure under various managers.
With Espanyol safely avoiding relegation, the club acted quickly to secure his leadership and experience at the back.
