Red Bull have not enjoyed the strongest start to the Formula 1 season, and speculation over a potential departure for Max Verstappen has already begun, though nothing is confirmed at this stage. However, there is now concrete information regarding his race engineer.
Details: As reported by insider Erik van Haren, Max Verstappen’s race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase is set to leave the team. He is expected to join McLaren in 2028, although an earlier move remains a possibility.
As for McLaren, they are preparing for the potential departure of Andrea Stella, who is being tipped behind the scenes as a future team principal of Ferrari. For Lambiase, the move would represent a significant step up, both in terms of role and financial package.
We previously reported that four-time world champion Max Verstappen could sensationally bring his Formula 1 career to an end as early as the conclusion of the 2026 season. He admitted he is seriously considering his future amid growing frustration with how the championship is unfolding.
Reminder: The third round of the 2026 Formula 1 season recently took place in Japan, where Kimi Antonelli claimed victory and etched his name into the history of the sport.
